Hello, Hello! It’s now officially winter here in California – and although I can hear the rest of America laughing at our “winter problems” – I do have to say that the mornings are crisp and the evenings are downright cold!
I thought living in London for the last decade would have made me a hardened ice queen who could resist the thought of beanies and boots for a mild Cali Winter. Apparently I’m just soft because all I want are thick socks, knit sweaters and fur blankets.
On that note – I am more than pleased to reveal the before & after photos following last weeks client installation!
Kaitlin and her husband came to us looking to bring a more pulled together look to their master bedroom as she felt it lacked cohesion and she wanted to be excited to show people this space tucked away in the back of the house. In our first meeting we discussed how some interesting but relevant artwork, along with a mix of textiles and focal lighting would make for any easy transition that packs and big punch!
First, Lets look at the bones of the room:
Absolutely fine – but we both knew a more polished and considered look would really bring this room to life.
We came up with two concept boards for Kaitlin and her husband to review. Taking into consideration her husbands background, I wanted to include a gentle nod to his roots in New Orleans – a place that means so much to this couple. I found two artists producing arial maps of the city which fit within the room scheme and were just incredible to look at.
We kept the palate neutral in both suggestions – something that would transition through the seasons. The high mix of textures and patterns in the throw pillows drew inspiration from the existing fabulous Anthropologie rug in the room.
After a few discussions – we decided the best path was a mix and match of both options. Given the all go – we started ordering and shopping – and we’re so excited when everything had come into stock and install day arrived!
So – with great pleasure – I’d like to unveil the GritzCarlton Master Bedroom Reveal!
Again – the Before & After:
And there you have it! All wrapped up in a pretty blog post! I hope you love it as much as Kaitlin and her family do!
Currently up to my eyeballs trying to get our own guest bedroom finished before the in-laws arrive for the holidays! Tree is already up – but not a single present underneath it! So much to sort and put together! Hope everyone has their Christmas game pulled together more than me!
